Brain capital is a natural ally of the longevity agenda, having brain health across the lifespan as its central focus, combined with human flourishing. When the two are put together, several of the construction faults, bottlenecks, and legacy problems that health systems face today can be overcome. This approach can be a powerful trigger for the transition from episodic care and focus on disease to a true lifespan approach. It is with this in mind that NeuroCentury, together with the Italian Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Brain Capital Alliance co-hosted the Brain Capital for Longevity conference at the Milan Longevity Summit on 30 May 2026.
The conference discussed how systems need to embrace the latest breakthroughs for the benefit of patients, without giving ground to the limitations of fragmented datasets, under-resourced care, and risk-aversion which slows down adoption. Two approaches stood out: embedding patient experience in a foundational way not only in research and clinical trials, but also in due diligence of the investment process, opting for bold innovation with a 360° platform where detection, prediction and triage are brought together, with the focus on identifying risk and tailoring response. Participants elaborated the Global Action Plan on Brain Capital for Longevity, which we will be publishing soon.
